This book by Reg Holloway describes the types of cameras that were developed to meet the special needs of press photographers and the laborious procedures involved in using these early cameras. The Evolution and Demise of the Larger Format Press Camera - Book by Reg Holloway

Classic Press Cameras

Reg Holloway continues to respond to requests for articles and to answer questions about classic press cameras. Since his book, The Evolution and Demise of the Larger Format Press Camera, was published in October 2008, he has spoken at many events. When he displayed some of his cameras at a heritage day show in Haliburton County in Ontario, where he lives, he was able to confirm that many photographers of his era (and later) have retired to live within the large artistic community in this beautiful part of Canada . On one afternoon, half a dozen former photographers were attracted to the cameras and reminisced with a similar number of younger professionals who live here and who make extraordinary photographs of the lakes, woods and wildlife (using very different cameras!). Reg had similar meetings and conversations at a "history of the camera" exhibition at the Minden Hills Museum in 2010.

He encourages such interest everywhere and can be reached direct by email. His book is available via the same email address: $23 in North America and £18 in Europe (including postage).
